FAQ

Q: Belt-drive or direct-drive centrifugal — why is everything going direct?

A: Belts eat 2–5% in transmission losses, need periodic tensioning and replacement, and force alignment work at every service. Direct-drive EC — as on this BC250 — removes all of it: the wheel sits on the motor shaft, efficiency is higher, maintenance approaches zero, and speed control comes from the motor electronics instead of a mechanical sheave change.

Q: How do I convert these m³/h and Pa figures to CFM and inches of water?

A: 1 m³/h = 0.589 CFM and 1 Pa = 0.00402 in. w.g. So the BC250’s 1,080–1,680 m³/h at 590–760 Pa reads as roughly 636–989 CFM at 2.4–3.1 in. w.g. Keep source units when comparing against published fan curves — rounding mid-conversion is a classic way to land on the wrong impeller.

Q: What routine maintenance does an EC centrifugal fan need?

A: Very little by design: bearings are sealed and greased for life, and there is no belt or commutator to wear. The two jobs that matter are cleaning the impeller — dust buildup unbalances the wheel and shows up as vibration before anything else — and re-checking mounting fasteners after the first few hundred hours. A yearly clean-and-vibration pass is a sound default for continuous-duty installs.
